Financial Planning is a relatively new profession. I learned of it myself for the first time in 1989. I returned to the classroom to study accounting, economics, and finance. I also enrolled in a two-year course in financial planning with The College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. Upon completion of that course, I began my career in the financial services industry in December of 1991.
Speaking personally, I got into this business of financial planning, nearly a quarter of a century ago, so that the financially devastating things that happened in previous generations of my family - due to premature deaths, economic downturns, and war - would not occur again on my watch to my children and grandchildren; and so that I could provide my heirs with educational and professional opportunities that my parents and grandparents could never dream of.
My ultimate business purpose, though, has always been to build a financial services practice that enhances the lives of everyone it touches, and that will be doing so one hundred years from now. In the twenty-five years that have elapsed since I was introduced to the financial planning profession, I have worked with literally hundreds of families, and I like to think I’ve made a difference for most of them. More importantly, though, I am now offering you and your family the wisdom that can only come from several decades of having skin in the game - literally (four children and ten grandchildren), and from a love of the game itself. Helping families flourish is more than a tag line for us; it’s really what we strive to do every day. I want you to know that all of us here at Family Wealth Management, L.L.C. are sincerely looking forward to helping your family flourish, too.
